GENERAL PURPOSE:This position is responsible for appropriate flow of merchandise to and through Cross Dock facilities to support Cross Dock Work plans and consistent execution of store delivery process.Requires expertise in transit times for all lanes, Cross Dock Operations, Cross Dock run schedules, and store delivery schedules. Responsibilities include the coordination of transportation and pool scheduling, tracking, and problem solving.Identify and analyze proactively any risks associated with the flow of merchandise and store delivery process. Risks could include, not limited to: Transit, Weather, DC workflow.This position will need the experience and ability to interact with multiple resources internal and external to the organization to negotiate and influence the end results supporting consistent flow of merchandise to a network of stores for both Ross and dd’s. Resources include: Corporate Inventory Control, Store Operations (Regional VPs, Zone Directors, District Managers, Director Store Finance), Logistics Finance, DCs, 3rd Party Logistics Partners (Cross Dock Managers, Cross Dock Directors, Cross Dock Corporate Leadership and Carriers)Responsible for research, follow-up, processing and reporting of all store delivery discrepancies throughout the Logistics Network.Primary contact for problem resolution for all Store Operations communications. Identified as an expert and team leader in the Outbound Transportation group. Responsible for the mentoring and training of less experienced outbound associatesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Outbound Transportation Planning

Develop, implement, improve and control the transportation scheduling, tracking, store deliveries and service levels associated with the outbound store delivery process

Development and implementation service improvements and data to support results

Responsible for the execution of an optimal carrier network and strategy that supports the freight levels defined by corporate inventory strategies

Relationships and Decision Making

Ability to generate strong relationships and confidence with internal and external customers

Support the Outbound teams in best carrier and routing decisions

Support the Outbound team to ensure Transit compliance

Create SOP’s and supporting documentation for all activities

Make decisions to ensure proper inventory flow to stores

Support a high level of customer service

Communicate proactively and appropriately to ensure Store Operations is well informed of any initiatives, changes or risks

Perform all projects as directed by the Outbound Logistics Manager

Travel may be required

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

4-6 years of Transportation experience

4-6 years of customer service experience

Must have strong written and oral communications skills and be able to communicate with all levels and departments both within and outside the company

High-Level working knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel, Access and Power Point

High level analytical, organizational and communications skills

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in work experience preferred

Strong self-motivation and the ability to work aggressively to complete projects

Knowledge of Transportation Regulations
