Assist the Supervisor and/or Management in leading personnel by giving clear and consistent instruction and direction to staff. Monitor and control workflow to include donor behavior during donation. Keep Center Management Team advised of any problems or issues.

Review area records daily to assure accuracy and compliance (donor charts, lab, or donor fees). Complete all reports and records accurately and in a timely fashion using the applicable donor management system

Assist Center Management Team as needed.

Maintain a clean and efficient work environment.

Observe employee’s performance and provide assistance and additional training whenever needed.

Assist in scheduling staff to provide adequate and safe coverage of area; monitor attendance and utilization of overtime with Center Management Team approval.

Maintain confidentiality with respect to personnel, donor and center records during the course of all duties.

At all times follow Standard Operating Procedures, and remain current regarding SOP changes.

Assist Supervisor and / or act as a designated trainer in the areas. Monitor training progress to assure adequate preparation, and documentation of training program.

Coordinate with other Team leads and / or Area Supervisors to ensure proper scheduling is in place in order to maintain workflow at maximum efficiency.

Serves in Production Areas as BMT.

Perform quality control procedures for shipments and equipment; (i.e. hematocrit centrifuge, refractometer, donor scale, vital check instrument, autopheresis instruments). Calibration of instruments.

Other additional support function of the Center Management Team may be assigned in support of BioMedical Center Operations.

May schedule workflow and employee staffing hours with Center Management Team final approval.

Maintains training requirements of Company’s training program in area of responsibility.

May perform immunizations under the direction of the attending physician in accordance with state law and training.

Education Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent. Proficiency in the use of English and mathematics. Course work in medical field desirable.

Experience Requirements

Six months successful and positive work experience as a BioMedical Technician and/or supervisory experience in related field required. Must be certifiable in all functions of production areas as a BMT.

Other Essential Knowledge

High level of attention to detail.

Capable of teaching, instructing, and serving as a role model.

Able to explain complex regulations to new employees.

High level of understanding of particular area of responsibility.

Sensitivity to employee issues and ability to resolve concerns and confrontations diplomatically.

Knowledge of basic computer applications such as Excel, Word is preferred or ability to obtain computer experience within six months.

Effective customer service skills.

Contacts:

Internal: Plasma Center personnel.

External: Corporate Plasma Operations personnel. Assist with Auditors or Customers during audits

Indirect responsibility for employees in area.

Decision Making

Decisions are always determined by specific instructions from management or existing policies and procedures.

Working Conditions

Hazards: Exposure to various odors (chemical, body), noise from customer floor especially during peak times. Exposure to cold temperatures. Exposed to human source products and various chemicals (bleach, germicide).

Stressors: Include labor shortage due to turnover, absences, and planned time off. Need to mediate confrontations or employee concerns resulting from close working conditions and need to work together as a team and with a high level of customer orientation. The production level of the area must be maintained, along with good employee and customer relations, and adherence to all SOPs and regulations.

Physical Demands: Standing and walking 90% of the time. Must be able to reach, grasp, twist and turn, with high level of manual dexterity. Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation. Ability to kneel, crouch, and crawl to work with equipment, files, and cleaning procedures. Able to lift and carry 25 or more lbs. on occasions.
