Job Summary Summary: The main function of a Light Industrial Assembler is to work as part of a team having responsibility for assembling an entire product or component of a product. They are required to be familiar with all applicable safety procedures and standard assembly protocols. Reports to Department Manager, Supervisor or team leader. Duties and Responsibilities: Assembles chassis components such as axles, transmissions, and motors using hand tools and other specified equipment. Adjusts brakes, inflates tires, lubricates chassis, and pours in oil or brake fluid. Checks final assembly of chassis for proper fit, proper order, alignment and operation using checking fixtures or run-off equipment when necessary. Corrects any defects located on chassis and responsible for quality workmanship. Assembles and bundles chassis according to engineering specifications. Possesses good working knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and conveyor system used in chassis manufacturing. Maintain area cleanliness during and at end of shift. Practices good safety habits in work area as well as all areas in the plant. Conscious of inventory of parts and works with materials personnel and quality assurance inspectors to alleviate part shortages and the proper execution of inventory control. Performs other tasks and assignments as requested by supervisor. Measuring, grading and feeding batches of raw materials into production machinery Operating production line equipment, assembling goods on a production line. Reporting equipment faults to maintenance staff Finishing products, for example applying protective coatings Monitoring the production process and carrying out basic testing and quality checks Storing goods and raw materials in the factory or warehouse Using lifting equipment and forklift trucks Required background experience and skills: Must have a high school diploma. 3 months of assembly/production experience preferred or transferable skills. Mechanical/automotive experience a plus. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
