"Visible - A Quarantine Short Film"

Plot description:
Childhood friends Ash and Ellen haven’t seen each other since Ash moved away right before high school. Now they’re both college graduates, each living out their own life when the virus hits and the world retreats indoors. Now Ash and Ellen have reconnected after randomly joining the same online art class. Neither is a very good artist, and the teacher has suggested they practice as much as possible outside of class. The film begins as they start a Zoom call together to work on their latest assignment: a nude figure drawing. Rather than reaching out to a classmate they don’t know or finding a random model, they’ve agreed to take turns sketching each other. The prospect is a bit uncomfortable, but as the call progresses and they take turns sketching each other, the awkwardness melts into casual conversation about the past, the present, and hopes for the future. In the end their pictures don’t turn out very well and they consider quitting the class, but they have a deeper appreciation for honest and open human connection.
Notes:
This is not a romantic film. Since it’s a short film with a two-person cast and stationary cameras, the performances must carry the film. The script involves extended full nudity in a non-sexual context.
The character of Ellen is around 25 years old. She has a comfortable, dead-pan way of speaking. The performance must have a lot of natural energy and show subtle emotions ranging from nervous to goofy to pensive and nostalgic without being over-the-top.
