Job ResponsibilitiesAssists in cleaning, painting, and making minor repairs to buildings, water systems, sewage disposal systems, and picnic facilities as necessary to keep facilities in acceptable appearance and condition. This would include assisting with mopping, vacuuming, waxing, buffing floors, washing windows, and changing bulbs as needed. Trains in performing manual labor as necessary in maintaining the grounds of SCDOT facilities, including new planting, and maintaining existing plantings. Trains in the operation of small tractor mower, weed eater, and hedger to perform these duties. Trains in the operation of mowers, edgers, trimmers, and blowers involved in the maintenance of District 2 Engineering and Greenwood Maintenance Shop yard. Assists Auto Maintenance Technicians by keeping work areas in order, helping with any physical assistance needed, such as lifting, and holding. Assists with loading and unloading of supply trucks. Performs basic janitorial work on Greenwood Maintenance Office Building, Assembly Room, and District 2 Engineering Office. Trains in the operation of standard dump truck with snow plow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.Minimum and Additional RequirementsA 10th grade education; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.A valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position.
