Job Description

Position summary:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workersTasks:

· Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances

· Enforce safety and sanitation regulations

· Identify, correct and maintain quality standards

· Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods

· Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments

· Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training

· Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports, in order to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs

· Identify and resolve barriers to production throughput

Qualifications

Skills:

· Experience with standard work for operators, leads and supervisors

· Experience with implementation and sustaining a 5S program

· Able to perform time studies and make recommendations to improve throughput

· Have held a leadership role in continuous improvement activities

· Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times

· Management of Personnel Resources - Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work Interviewing, coaching and counseling to identify the best people for the job

· Instructing - Teaching others how to do something

· Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action

· Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively and in a professional manner

Attributes:

· Oral Expression - The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

· Oral Comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

· Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

· Written Comprehension - The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

Experience and Education:

High School Diploma (or GED/ Equivalency) required. College coursework preferred. 3-5 years experience required.
