TheCoding Mentorhelpscoordinate and direct the day-to-day coding educational activities. The Coding Subject-matter expert (SME) facilitates and provides coding educational classes orpresentations to staffas required/when needed. You willassist Coding Leadership in root cause analysis of coding quality issues, performing account reviews, and preparing training documents to assist with coding quality action plans.

In this role, you will:

  • Respondto coding-related questions from HSC coding staff
  • Performaccount reviews for appeals that are part of the prebill auditprocess
  • Enterall applicable changes that occur as a result of appeals in CPART, into the appropriate abstracting system
  • ProvideCoding Integrity Specialist (CIS) and CQR education based on audits performed
  • Initiatethe rebilling process as required per policy on special projects
  • Monitorstaff using Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) for coding comprehension and workflow proficiency.
  • Validateuser error vs CAC natural language processing (NLP) improvement

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent required.

  • Undergraduate (Associate's or Bachelor’s) degree in HIM/HIT preferred.

  • Proven work experience in areas of coding education strongly preferred.

  • Must have rebab coding experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years acute care inpatient/outpatient coding experience required.

  • Minimum of 3 years' coding auditing/monitoring experience strongly preferred.

  • RHIA, RHIT or CCS preferred.
