This position is responsible for network administration as well as field-based installation and services on the Transport Network. Responsibilities include:
Working in and around fiber and radio huts, generation plants, substations, data centers, crew quarters and colocation facilities.
MPLS network design and administration.
Installation and provisioning of equipment and services.
Interoperability testing of new vendors.
Testing and deployment of systems patches.
Support legacy TDM services.
Respond to and troubleshoot system and service outages.
Document circuits and systems in Circuit Vision.
Review and analyze systems and circuit redundancy.
Participate in maintenance window cutovers and system grooms.
Support storm recovery duties during disasters.
Escort colocation tenants in Dominion Energy facilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
5+ years of job-related experience.
A valid driver's license.
Strong safety awareness.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to process information quickly and function under high stress situations.
Ability to develop rapport with Dominion employees, external customers, and contractors.
Strong project management skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Network Engineer V
7 years of networking experience (preferred)
Strong skillset in network design and administration
Network Engineer VI
10 years of networking experience (preferred)
Expert level of network design and administration
Ability to make major decisions independently
Additional Requirements
Experience with routing in MPLS environment
IS-IS, OSPF, BGP and EIGRP
RSVP TE, LDP, Fast Reroute and Bidirectional Forwarding
Label Switching, Pseudowires, VLAN, DO1Q, L2VPN
An in-depth understanding of MEF and Carrier Ethernet standards- E-pipes, VPRN, VPLS, L2VPN
Experience with TDMoIP and Circuit Emulation.
SAToP, SAToP-CESoPSN, Metro Ethernet, CESoMPLS
Ethernet over SDH, Smart SFP
Knowledge of Microsoft Server 2016- Setup and manage DNS Active Directory
Experience with Cisco- Integrated Security Engine
Ability to setup and manage TACAS and Radius
Expereince with managing ESX VMWare virtual desktops and servers
Education RequirementsBachelors Degree in computer science, information systems, or any other related fields with 5+ years of job related experience.Network Engineer 5:
7 years of networking experience (preferred)
Strong skillset in network design and administration
Network Engineer6:
10 years of networking experience (preferred)
Expert level of network design and administration
Ability to make major decisions independently
