Pursuing Excellence, Inspiring Innovation, Promoting Teamwork, and Embracing ServiceThis position is located in the Drinking Water Permitting and Recreational Water Compliance Section of the Bureau of Water. Assist in state wide program to ensure that all public water systems are in compliance with the State Safe Drinking Water Act and State Primary Drinking Water Regulations, and participate in the state's Area Wide Optimization Program for surface water treatment plants. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the State Safe Drinking Water Act and State Primary Drinking Water Regulations. Perform sanitary surveys on assigned public water systems. Provide technical assistance to Department staff members, owners and operators of public water systems, consulting engineers, and the general public concerning drinking water issues. Review and evaluate engineering reports, plans and specifications and requests for treatment modifications. Participate in Drinking Water Emergency Response Activities as required. Perform related duties as required.Minimum and Additional RequirementsState Minimum:A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or engineering technology and entry-level engineering or architectural work experience.Environmental Affairs (EA) Minimum: A master's degree in engineering; or a bachelor's degree in engineering and one (1) year of experience in environmental engineering; or a bachelor's degree in engineering and two (2) years of experience as an engineer. The education must qualify the applicant to become registered as a Level A Professional Engineer in South Carolina and must meet one of the education requirements outlined on the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulations website found at:
