Technology (IT) Support Services Team in the Network Operations and Security

Center (NOSC) of the US Air Forces Central Command (USAFCENT) Communications

Directorate (A6). This opportunity places you at the tip of the spear for Engineering,

Operations and Maintenance, Cyber Security, and Defensive Cyber Operations

supporting the warfighter in the Southwest Asia area.USAFCENT is the air component

of United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), a regional unified command.

USAFCENT, in concert with its coalition, joint and interagency partners,

delivers decisive air and space power on behalf of USCENTCOM for the security

and stability of the Southwest Asia (SWA) region. The USAFCENT NOSC delivers

cyberspace command and control (C2) superiority to the warfighter by

engineering, implementing, securing, managing, operating and maintaining

USAFCENT’s Non-Classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet), Secret

Internet Protocol Router (SIPRNet), USCENTCOM Partner Networks (CPN-X), and associated

C2 networks, systems and services.The USAFCENT NOSC executes the

full-spectrum of IT services management and operations for USAFCENT networks 24

hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week (24/7); and is tasked by USCENTCOM to provide

information assurance (IA) boundary intrusion detection and intrusion

prevention for USCENTCOM components. Comprised of NOSC operations, operations

support, cybersecurity, network engineering, and command support functions, the

USAFCENT NOSC plans, engineers, installs, integrates, operates and maintains,

protects and manages enterprise-wide network and systems architecture,

infrastructure and services; and provides enterprise-level oversight to its

subordinate and supported communications support activities.Candidates will be working at

Shaw AFB, SC and/or Lackland AFB, TX. Frequent temporary duty (TDY) and/or

deployment travel to OCONUS locations in the USCENTCOM AOR is required to

support sustainment, site surveys, installations, upgrades, integration,

testing, troubleshooting and other mission-related requirements.The candidate for this

position develops

technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of

ingenuity and creativity, exercises considerable latitude in determining

technical objectives of assignment, exercises judgment in selecting methods,

techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results, applies extensive

technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines,

receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet

objectives, provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance

with established policies, and establishes and recommends changes to policies

which affect subordinate organization(s).The Operations SME:

Performsdesign and implementation of IT systems that require the integration of diverseand complex components. Activities include creating a problem statement,defining operational requirements including integration with other systems orcomponents, researching and modeling the system architecture and configuration,investigation alternatives, cost analysis and estimation, and decisionanalysis.

Ensuresthe logical ad systematic conversion of requirements into total systemssolutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performsfunctional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements allocation and interfacedefinition studies to translate requirements into hardware and softwarespecification.

Providesspecific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, andtools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including presentand future capacity requirements, facility requirements (including floorlayout, power & cooling, network connectivity), data storage, backup, monitoring,operations systems, directory services, identity management, access management,and automation.

Representsorganization as prime technical contact on contracts and projects.

Interactswith senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiringcoordination between organizations. Specific duties for thisposition include, but are not limited to:

Serve Operationssection lead training representative for both contractors and governmentpersonnel to include Cisco, Microsoft, and hardware troubleshootingdisciplines.

Demonstrateexpertise in a broad range of technical skill sets tempered with confidence,leadership, and management capabilities to support the NOSC Director ofOperations and Crew Commanders.

Documentprocesses and logic diagrams for regularly accomplished tasks on the NOSCoperations floor as well as processes utilized by support technicians,typically referred to as Operations Knowledge Books.

Research and analyze network topology via NOSCautomated toolsets and a myriad of networking metrics to ascertainconnectivity, topology, and status to recognize sub-standard networkperformance.

Develop reportsand trend analysis documentation on bandwidth and network security incidents.

Utilize theFirewall toolset to accurately analyze and report on the overall health oflocal and deployed firewalls.

Performenterprise Level firewall fault isolation and correction to includetroubleshooting ACLs affecting other network traffic.

Perform localinstallation and local and remote administration of firewalls to includecommand line and GUI interfaces.

Create, maintainand update a work schedule that provides 24/7 coverage for an IT tier twoenterprise help desk.

Develop andmaintain training plans for all operations floor positions and train operationspersonnel on new system installations and operating application upgrades.

Serve as theDirector of Operations’ liaison to provide critical information flow with allNOSC sections and senior military leadership.

Provide technicaldirection to other contractors for IT tier two enterprise help desk support.

.QualificationsBachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience. In addition the following certifications and skills are required: Unix, VCA, MSCE, Server Infrastructure, CCNP, HBSS, and ITIL Foundation.Desired QualificationsITIL 4 Foundation certification or any ITIL v3 Intermediate certification.
