The supervisor is responsible for the operations of the front desk and CampCons. Must be able to follow and enforce all policies and standards set by the General Manager and Under Canvas. Also, be an example to the Camp Cons and assist them in any tasks that need to be accomplished regularly. Creating schedules with multiple shifts that can be followed and understood.

At Under Canvas we refer to our Front Desk Clerks as camp concierges, CampCon for short. Although you will be working at the front desk, your job is about so much more than just checking guests in and out of the camp. CampCons are the face of Under Canvas, the first on site interaction a guest may have is at the front desk of the camp. The staff in this position need to be brand ambassadors, tour guides, helpful information, and overall problem solvers.

Camp Con Supervisor responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:

Always keep the Front Desk Area presentable and engaging.

Guest Services “ In a timely and friendly manner, respond to guest questions about their stay, the tent they are staying in, and any needs that come up during their stay. Through example, establish a friendly, courteous, and service oriented approach to guests which can be also exhibited by the CampCons.

Guest Arrival “ Greet guests, efficiently complete check-in procedures, inform guests of policies, camp layout, food options, camp activities, and amenities. Deliver guests and luggage to their tent and explain all aspects of their stay. Give A+ customer service by anticipating any future needs based on their situation and circumstances.

Concierge “ Become knowledgeable about the area and all available local activities. Some of these activities might include hiking, fishing, movies, shopping, etc. Learn about resources you can use to answer guest questions and that the guest would be able to use as well.

Staff Relations “ Develop a high level of trust and mutual respect with CampCons to reduce turnover and build employee engagement. Communicate effectively and constantly while building staff skill sets, knowledge, and abilities. Be visible and available to all CampCons while maintaining an open-door policy. Counsel with Camp Cons as needed to reduce internal conflict and promote well-being.

Staff Evaluation “ Conduct performance appraisals and development plans for staff, correcting and disciplining when needed. Have regular one-on-one meetings with supervisors to ensure departments are running smoothly and within SOP, set goals, and improve engagement with CampCons.

Knowledge, skills, and Abilities Required:

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while projecting a positive attitude and engaging manner

Ability to work for long periods of time outdoors in possibly uncomfortable temperatures and/or weather and view the experience as an adventure

Ability to be outgoing, pleasant, and empathetic even in confrontational situations

Customer service knowledge and experience

Ability to skillfully work with a variety of personalities, circumstances, and environments

Supervisory or management experience in a hospitality environment

Ability to effectively delegate responsibilities

Skillful at adaptation to change, personal improvement, and organization

Experience in customer service
