A TYPICAL DAY (if there is one…)

Support projects, routine testing of samples, set up and run experiments that solve critical business issues or have potential to progress POET’s commercial goals.

Generate, compile and analyze data, lots and lots of data!

Translate results and recommendations to diverse audiences in a way that anyone can understand.

Investigate new opportunities related to business needs.

Since we’re all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skill may be put to use helping other team member projects or experiments!

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Degree, or equivalent industry experience, in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or related science.

Comfort and familiarity working in a lab.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs to write emails, conduct research, write experiments, present scientific findings.

BONUS COMPETENCIES

Master’s degree or Ph.D. in related science field.

Specific knowledge of bio-based technologies and development processes.

Experience with specific analytical instruments (HPLC, IC, NIR, etc.).

Experience with LIMS, SharePoint, Maximo and other software programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Most work will be performed in an office, laboratory and bioprocessing plant environments. This could include:

Working at a computer for extended periods.

Standing at the lab bench for extended periods.

Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working with chemicals or in dusty environments.

Regularly bending, twisting and turning while lifting weights up to five (5) pounds. Occasionally this will be done with heavier items, up to fifty (50) pounds.

Occasionally lifting weights greater than fifty (50) pounds with assistance.

Performing mechanical repair/maintenance of equipment.

Exposure to different environments (cold, heat, climbing to heights, confined spaces, etc.) when working at the plants.

You may have occasional (25%) travel to attend conferences, collaboration meetings, or support POET entities in the implementation of your projects or experiments. POET values work life balance and is intentional about time away from home.
