General Description and Essential FunctionsThe Fraud Specialist plays a key role in identifying and mitigating fraud losses through an analytical review of data queues and reports. Collaboration with other functional areas of the bank is key as we work against transaction deadlines to effectively minimize losses from fraud.

Monitor queues using various fraud detection tools and programs to analyze high-risk checks, debit and credit card activity, ACHs, Online Banking activity including suspicious logins, IP addresses, bill payments, P2P/A2A Transfers, remote deposits, and new accounts opened online.

Independently determine if transactions are fraudulent and take appropriate action(s); including escalating any fraud issues to the appropriate department manager or investigative unit.

Communicate with customers, internal staff, merchants, other financial institutions, or other resources to validate information and/or transaction(s) and provide guidance on mitigation or recovery steps.

Conduct analysis of trends or common points of compromise, identify additional accounts affected by known fraud and collaborate on rule strategies to prevent future fraud.

Create and update procedures according to changes in or the implementation of new processes or systems.

Maintain or exceed established service level agreements and guidelines for timely resolution of fraud transactions to minimize potential losses.

Qualifications/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

1-3 years banking experience or experience with banking systems preferred.

Fraud experience preferred.

Developed and demonstrated organizational and analytical skills.

Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet.

Proven ability to manage multiple assignments while working independently

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Detailed oriented.
