Territories across the Southof England will be further defined in December 2020 as the team grows.

The NBM role is a field-based market access specialist role working across the product lifecycle from pre-launch to licence, launch and finally patent expiry. Pre-launch market access activities may include stakeholder mapping, advance budgetary notification activities with the payer community and mapping local disease management to better understand current diagnosis and treatment. Post launch activities may include but are not limited to formulary progression, budget forecasting, progressing local access, guidelines and protocol development and working in partnership with the NHS to develop and implement local solutions to improve pathways or services.All activities must be delivered in accordance with the ABPI code of practice and Biogen SOPs.

The primary focus of this specific role will be within Alzheimer’s disease, there may also be a need to work within other Biogen therapy areas as appropriate.The Neurology Business Manager (Alzheimer’s) will collaborate closely with Biogen head office functions (for example Marketing and Medical) and their regional cross functional teams to optimise territory performance by developing and executing an effective post launch business plan which: Ensures that the Biogen Alzheimer portfolio products are made available for suitable patients by being reimbursed with optimal positioning defined by the relevant local access process and agreed within local pathways, protocols or clinical guidelines by the appropriate health service decision makers committees. The NBM is accountable for the delivery of the local market access strategy within the business plans. May consider potential opportunities to work with NHS organisations to develop the appropriate service capacity and patient pathways to ensure that the diagnosis, referral and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease is optimised at a regional and local level Identifies and addresses additional local hurdles which may be impacting patient diagnosis or access to treatment. Demonstrate NBM has a comprehensive understanding of key payer stakeholders, local access processes and timelines and the Alzheimer’s patient and treatment journey with a clear payer engagement plan. Identifies local or regional policy levers and makes strategic recommendations as to any key actions or considerations which need to be understood.

The NBM will also contribute to the success of the Biogen UK affiliate on a national basis by: Identifying changes in the UK healthcare environment at national/local/regional level which may present opportunities and/or challenges to Biogen – the NBM will be required to provide payer insights and recommend potential strategies to the Biogen leadership team as well as feedback on the value proposition, messaging and materials/tools with recommendations. Demonstrating positive impact made with key payer customers who have been identified as holding a national/key regional remit within the territory Adhering always to internal and external compliance regulations, policies and codes.

Principal Accountabilities Ownership and accountability for creating and updating business plans to ensure achievement of goals in line with company strategy. Ensuring a positive environment is created for launch and successful commercialisation of Biogen products by engaging with a range of payer customers including budget holders and clinical decision makers to ensure no blocks to access with funding secured and positive guidelines/policies in place for Biogen products. Developing positive and credible relationships and networks with the payer community ensuring productive and compliant payer engagement using a bespoke omnichannel approach tailored to address individual payer requirements. Collaborating with colleagues locally and at affiliate level to share insights and make recommendations as the NHS expert Identifying innovative ways to work with the NHS to address any funding or pathway blocks to access which may impact diagnosis, referral and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Budget responsibility for any local NBM led projects Cross functional collaboration, teamwork and ownership of NBM local strategy. Sharing market intelligence with National Neurology Business Manager and other Biogen colleagues to shape strategy/approach/materials. Ensuring consistent and compliant approach aligned with internal and external regulations Acting as an ambassador for Biogen

Qualifications

Proven ability to develop strong networks and engage payer customers credibly across all stages of the product lifecycle thus ensuring achievement of required outcomes within the local access strategy using approved tools and materials.

Can demonstrate innovation in identifying potential solutions to address challenges which will accelerate access to treatment or diagnosis with evidence of problem solving

A comprehensive understanding and up to date knowledge of NHS policy/structure/processes at both national and local level which needs to be translated into the local plans/inform head office strategy and materials by sharing insights and recommendations.

Accountability for developing business plans and ownership for delivery of NBM access strategy working both independently and in collaboration with cross functional colleagues as well as being able to influence without authority.

Strategic thinking as well as ability to flex according to the needs and requirements of the role.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and competency in MS office.

Thrives on autonomy with ability to organise, prioritise and manage own workload with minimal supervision.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key customers, co-workers, managers and other day to day business contacts.

Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and ABPI Code of Practice
