Job SummaryThe Systems Engineer II supports over 2,000 remote locations worldwide, including 3 corporate Data Centers in North America and 30 Data Centers in Europe.

The general responsibilities of the team include operational responsibility for Active Directory, VMware, Windows Server, Linux Server, AIX, Citrix, Office365/Exchange, storage, data protection/backup, SCCM, security/compliance, and server hardware.

This position is responsible for planning, supporting, maintaining, and serving as the highest escalation point for LKQ's VMware, storage, UCS, and VxRail infrastructure.

Essential Job DutiesInstall, configure, and manage all aspects of the VMware infrastructure.Monitor the health and capacity of the VMware infrastructure with vRealize Operations Manager.Manage, install, and maintain NetApp and other storage systems.Manage the capacity and health of aggregates, LUNs, volumes, and SVMs.Manage Cisco and Brocade fiber channel switches.Present storage using multiple SAN protocols, including fiber channel, NFS, and SMB/CIFS.Manage, install, and maintain UCS, VxRail and Dell servers.Execute firmware and software upgrades of NetApp, ClusterNet switches, UCS stack, VxRail, MDS switches, and standalone Dell servers.Ensure maximum up-time and stability of supported systems.Monitor performance and resolve issues negatively impacting performance.Develop and execute scheduled maintenance plans. Stay informed of vendor code releases and bug fixes.Identify opportunities for improvement and take the necessary action.Remediate vulnerabilities identified during monthly security scans.Drive technical service resolution and minimize down time.Create monthly performance and capacity reports.Serve as an escalation point for System Administrators and Engineers.Resolve escalated incidents and requests.Participate in a 24x7 on call rotation.Create and maintain technical documentation.Mentor System Administrators and Engineers.Assumes other duties as assigned.

Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent additional experience.10+ years IT Infrastructure experience in an environment of comparable size/complexity.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities7+ years of experience and expert knowledge of VMware.7+ years of experience with NetApp, including StorageGrid, SnapMirror/SnapVault, and SnapCenter.5+ years of experience and expert knowledge of UCS, VxRail, and vSAN.7+ years of experience and expert knowledge of general server hardware.Proficient with PowerCLI and scripting.Experience developing and implementing disaster recovery processes.Experience working in large IT departments supporting over 1,500 servers and 15,000 employees.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Self-motivated and able to identify work that needs to be completed.Broad IT knowledge and an understanding of complex relationships between systems.Thorough understanding of supported technology products.Familiar with ITIL processes and ITSM ticket systems, preferably ServiceNow.Ability to learn quickly and provide deep support for multiple technologies.Excellent verbal and written English language communication skills.Ability to work on a diverse team with members located in multiple international locations.Familiar with project management principles.Preferred QualificationsExtensive Windows Server experience.Familiarity with Veeam.Knowledge of Docker or other containers.Experience with automation tools.Familiarity with colocation facilities.VMware, storage, or data protection certifications.Experience with Azure, AWS, or Oracle Cloud.Essential Physical Demands/Work EnvironmentTravel up to 10% of the time.Ability to lift and rack servers.
