The Public Art Program Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Public Art and perform duties in support of the Public Art Chattanooga (PAC) program within the Economic & Community Development Department. PAC is dedicated to introducing a wide variety of high quality public art into the community, enhancing the civic environment and enriching the lives of visitors and residents.

The Public Art Program Coordinator will be engaging with a diverse group of staff, stakeholders and communities to implement both meaningful and impactful public artworks throughout Chattanooga's public spaces and neighborhoods.

SERIES LEVEL:

This is a standalone full-time position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Program Coordination

Work closely with the Neighborhood Services division and various neighborhood associations to ensure the continued success of the Art in the Neighborhoods program.

Track and manage the public art collection (180 artworks) including inventory, labels, documentation and maintenance.

Prepare and submit fixed assets and fine art insurance reports for City of Chattanooga.

Assist in administering the artist selection process based on best practices in the field.

Schedule selection panels, meetings, public input sessions as needed.

Submit all invoices and expenditures related to the public art program.

Work closely with the Purchasing department to procure artwork and other goods and services.

Coordinate with stakeholders, community members, artists and vendors supporting the execution of public art projects.

Plan and coordinate events related to the public art collection and program

Communications

Support the Chattanooga Public Art Commission by taking minutes at public meetings and posting public documents as needed.

Create and conduct public presentations about the public art program to a wide variety of audiences as requested.

Manage social media accounts and online presence of Public Art Chattanooga.

Foster relationships and partnerships within Chattanooga's local arts community.

Minimum Qualifications:

Six (6) years of any combination of relevant education, training or experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job will be considered.

Examples of relevant education include a Bachelor's degree in Art, Communications, Public Administration or a closely related field. Examples of relevant experience includes working or volunteering with an arts organization, government agency or non-profit coordinating projects with diverse communities.

Knowledge of:

Contemporary art and related issues, and in particular, knowledge and familiarity of the theory, principles, practices and procedures of public art programs.

Practices and techniques of governing public agency operations.

Computer applications related to the work, including Word, Excel, Access, Filemaker Pro.

Basic public personnel, procurement and contract administration practices.

Social media and website editing platforms.

Adobe Creative Suite programs and basic design principles.

Ability to:

Work well independently and with team members.

Establish exceptional organizational skills, multi-task, prioritize work and meet critical deadlines.

Communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.

Exercise sound independent judgment within established policies and guidelines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises and travel.
