Job Description: Youth Leader Part-Time

Estimated Hours: 10 hours/week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with youth in a teaching/mentoring capacity during three services:

Wednesday evening service (6:30-7:30) Age groups 6th “ 12th gr

Sunday School & Worship: Age groups 6th “ 12th gr

Planning/Coordinating Time Each Week

Provide pathways and opportunities for the youth to grow in their faith.

Develop and gather resources for lessons.

Assist in reviewing and monitoring the effectiveness of all curriculum. Revise, plan and suggest modifications as necessary.

Assists in recruitment of volunteers for all youth activities and distributes materials.

Maintain communication with church body and parents about Youth Program

Prepares presentations/programs for church body (ex. Youth Sunday, etc¦)

Plan and coordinate youth functions outside of the church with the purpose of building on current relationships and encouraging new memberships.

Assist the Pastor in providing pastoral care to the youth such as hospital and prospect visitation.

Plan, coordinate, and implement youth mission work.

Nurture a spirit of Christian social interaction and unity among the youth group.

Job Relationships:

Receives steering and assistance with curriculum development from Christian Education Committee and current youth program workers during first two months

After first two months, reports to and receives steering from session representatives

Receives pastoral care and guidance from minister

Positive interactions with youth, parents, volunteers, and church body

Qualification Requirements:

Christian character through life of prayer, spiritual discipline, knowledge of scripture, and leadership

Passion for sharing love of Christ with others

Ability to communicate with and motivate youth

Is committed to developing and strengthening existing Youth Program

Able to follow directions and accept feedback

Demonstrates effective communication skills

Works in harmony with other members of the church family

Is dependable, punctual and honest in dealing with time, money and materials

Submit and pass background check and provide two references

Education and/or Experience:

High school graduate and at least some college experience

Active in a church

Experience and/or willingness to work with youth

Clauses

A ninety day (90) trial period shall be in effect beginning the first day of employment. Also, a thirty day (30) written notice is requested should either party choose to dissolve employment. Employee needs to be familiar with the Safe Sanctuary policy of the church. Employee will also need to be CPR certified within the trial period; this will be paid for by the church.

Accountability

The part time Youth Director is employed by the Church Session to perform the duties and responsibilities under the supervision of the Pastor. The Pastor will evaluate on an annual basis and report evaluation to the Session. All absences including vacations, and requested days off shall be scheduled and approved by the Pastor. The employee is responsible to notify the Pastor, as soon as possible, any absences due to illness. All absences are unpaid.
