Our satellite campus, TriStar Natchez, offers imaging and oncology services as well a 24/7, full-service ER that provides the same services as our main campus emergency room.The Ultrasonographer performs a variety of technical procedures that require rational independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in performing Ultrasounds and Imaging procedures with basic departmental functions and goals with emphasis on productivity, efficiency and customer service and image quality. Participates in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers. Promotes a supportive, team-work oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of Horizon.What you will do in this role:Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Validation Checklist(s). Performs Ultrasound exams following protocols and in a timely manner, ensuring a high quality of care. Familiar with exams in all service lines of Ultrasound. Takes patients history and retrieves any necessary orders, and/or patient history from Meditech, PACS and/or physician’s office. Provides patient history/signs/symptoms appropriate to the exam to the radiologist. Appropriately completes documentation. Coordinates patient flow and checks daily list to ensure all exams are complete. Informs patients about procedure and answers any questions they may have. Interacts and professionally communicates with physicians, patients, family members, co-workers, and staff in other departments. Daily upkeep of departmental work areas (cleaning, stocking, etc.) Supports and participates in quality (QI), performance improvement (PI) plans and any other duties as assigned. Meets mutually agreed upon performance goals/objectives established annually, as listed in the Performance Management Plan (PMP).What qualifications you will need:Current ARRT or RDMS registered or registry eligible with registration obtained in Physics, Abdomen, and Vascular within 24 months, having passed and source verified no less than two of the requirements within a 12 months of hire date or registry eligibility. Temporary extensions may be made to this requirement, at the discretion of the Chief Medical Director and Department Director, based on facility needs and documentation that the technologist’s is actively pursuing registration. One year of experience and registry in the remaining sub-specialties preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification required within 90 days of hire or promotion pursuant to HR .025.
