DIRECTOR-RESPIRATORY CARELocation: HIXSON, TENNESSEE, UNITED STATESNew Field: Director/Manager/SupervisorRequisition #: 2019-R0225246Position Type: RegularScheduled Hours per 2 week Pay Period: 80Primary Location: TN >CHATTANOOGAGENERAL SUMMARY : Manages the fiscal, personnel and operational functions of Respiratory Care Services, which include Respiratory Care in acute care, critical care, and Pulmonary Function Diagnostics.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Provides leadership and direction to assure excellence, state of art expertise and positive outcomes with regard to technical, clinical and customer satisfaction aspects of service to a diverse patient population.

Assures economic success by appropriate allocation of fiscal resources through budgetary preparation and assignment of human and material resources needed to effectively accomplish objectives.

Assesses current operations, considers impact of changing external and internal factors and develops appropriate objectives in response.

Collaborates with Medical Director, involved Medical Staff, and the Vice President on departmental initiatives and improvements within scope of Respiratory Care services.

Provides leadership in multi-disciplinary collaboration, teamwork and effective communication.

Develops job descriptions, establishes staffing matrix, and has primary responsibility for review of applications, interviewing and hiring of personnel.

Determines performance standards, evaluates employee performance, and oversees disciplinary processes conducted by supervisors and staff.

Oversees continuing education, orientation and competency assessment of personnel.

Generates strategies for improving operations through active participation in continuous quality improvement.

Assures department compliance with: JCAHO, OSHA, C.A.P., C.L.I.A., regulations and standards.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS :

Performs all the functions of a Respiratory Care Supervisor.

Participates in the evaluation of equipment and supplies.

Assures that work environments are maintained to meet needs of personnel and equipment.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

Certification of completion from a J.C.R.T.E. accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Actively pursuing Bachelor's Degree or acquired.

Five years experience as a Respiratory Therapist.

Two years of management experience in Respiratory Care.

Compliance with State of Iowa licensure requirements.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.

Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
