Title : Quality Control Lab Assistant

Location: Knoxville, TN

Duration: 12 Months (3 rd Shift Position)

Compensation: $17.00 Hourly

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. •
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Previous lab-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the preparation of materials for testing.
  • Performs manual and automated routine blood tests.
  • Prepares specimens for microscope examination.
  • Operates laboratory equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks.
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to supervisor or manager.
  • Aids professional/certified individuals in the performance of various laboratory tests.
  • These duties include, but are not limited to receipt and preparation of samples through front-end automation, refrigerated and frozen storage/archive of samples, use of computerized reports in retrieval and reconciliation of samples from archive for additional testing, and preparation of buffer materials.
  • Participates in continuing education.
  • Receives specimens and some supplies.
  • Processes and records information received from collection centers.
  • Handles and tracks donor samples from receipt to final testing.
  • Performs proper disposal of samples into biohazard containers after testing is complete.
  • Follows all safety regulations, Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and rules.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work environment.
  • Operates, maintains and troubleshoots instrumentation within assigned department.
  • Uses company laboratory computerized inventory management system to locate, track and determine testing status of samples.
  • May handle positive samples.
  • Works within current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the Lab.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Available to work in 3 rd Shift 10:30PM to 7:00 AM Sunday to Thursday.
