Senior Application Developer (JAVA or Pega)

Position Description CGI is seeking a Senior Application Developer (JAVA or Pega) to join our team!

Design and develop high quality enterprise applications in a large enterprise.

Participate in unit testing activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality code.

Work with Analysts and client partners to identify and resolve issues with system changes that affect data.

Your future duties and responsibilities• Actively participate in design sessions to offer advice in design a high-quality enterprise application• Build and maintain system functionalities based on approved designs and following project standards. Work with business analysts to ensure fidelity to designs• Work with architects and other senior developers as needed to create and follow standard approaches to design the application• Collaborate with other senior developers to define coding standards and create technical documents• Lead development meetings to orient developers in implementation approach• Fix defects as reported by test team• Coordinate with other development teams in delivering quality components according to project schedule• Perform code reviews and other quality control measures per project standards• Unit test code using project processes and tools• Perform Unit Integration Test prior to code being deployed to test environments• Diagnostic issues reported by users in production environment• Support implementation team in creating OCM artifacts such as training materials• Work with senior test analysts to understand areas of focus for both teams• Work with Configuration Management team to manage development environments• Work with Data team to populate test data• Diagnostic issues reported by users in production environment• Support knowledge transition activities per project processes• Participate in production cutover activities

Required qualifications to be successful in this role• 5 Years - Programming experience with Java or Pega development platform• 5 Years - Experience with database structures, theories, principles, and practices• 3 Years - Experience with using REST and SOAP services in enterprise application• Working knowledge of SQL• Excellent Working knowledge of the entire SDLC, IT systems and processes, development methodologies and their direct implementation to projects• Ability to work both independently as well as collaborate with other project members• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines while maintaining quality requirements• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate to client and internal team members• Ability to troubleshoot testing issues and escalate appropriately

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/NON-ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED• 7 years of experience in designing enterprise applications that integrates with legacy systems• Working knowledge in migration legacy system data to new application• Understand Business Process Management concept• Basic understanding in how to identify and fix performance issue in application and in SQL• Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications and TFS• Thrive in a team environment• Customer-oriented• Experience working on geographically spread teams and interacting with developers, team leads, and product owners on a daily basis
