About Flying Anvil - Flying Anvil Theatre is a not-for-profit, professional theatre company located in the Rocky Hill neighborhood in Knoxville, TN. While the organization has been in existence for 7 years, we have occupied our own space for only about 1 ½ years. In this space, we are producing 8 full productions each year and up to 2 smaller productions via the Hammer Ensemble wing. We also host other short-run productions and rent the theatre to other production companies needing a venue.

Purpose of Position “ As a professional theatre company that pays cast and crew for their artistic endeavors, ticket sales by themselves are not enough to sustain us financially. As such, we need the financial support of donors, both individual and corporate as well as funding from grants. Reporting to the Acting Executive Director and working in conjunction with the Fundraising Committee and the board of directors, the Development Specialist will carry-out fundraising efforts of all types to ensure that our fundraising goals are achieved.

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute Flying Anvils nonprofit annual fundraising plan

Secure financial support from individuals, corporations and foundations

Maintain Flying Anvils donor database

Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors

Work with Executive Director to identify and contact donors

Create and execute strategies for expanding the number of annual givers

Oversee the organization of special events

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in relevant field

Experience in fundraising preferred but will train the right person

Love of the theatre is a plus

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Solid connections with the greater Knoxville philanthropic community

Familiarity with identifying and writing grants

Being a self-starter, comfortable with flexible work schedule and adjusting hours as needed for meetings and events
