Immanuel United Methodist Church, a small rural church in Blount County, Tennessee, is currently seeking a part-time Music Director to lead our music ministry.
Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
Provide leadership for total church music program in coordination with pastor
Lead congregational participation of worship music
Lead and direct choir in performance for worship services
Direct all activities related to the choir or delegate individual(s) to act on his/her behalf
Recruit vocalist and musicians to participate in music program
Submit and manage budget for music program
Schedule maintenance of church-owned instruments
Job Requirements:
Must be a professing Christian and display Christian character in both professional work and private life
If not a United Methodist, the incumbent will be expected to develop knowledge of the United Methodist Church, its belief and structure as directed in the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church
Be proficient in reading music and have experience in leading both vocal and instrumental music
Employee should participate in church council, worship ministry and other programs as needed
Employee should be available for any special services requiring musical leadership or submit plausible reasoning why he/she is not available
