Production Shift Manager
Employment Type : Full-time
Location : La Vergne, TN
Role Description :
To lead shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment by assigning work, implementing policies and procedures and recommending improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
Responsible for planning, organizing and managing the manufacturing functions consisting of : the shop floor operations, production control, inventory accuracy, manufacturing, plant, machinery and tooling / equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities :
Assure conformance to Company policies and procedures; Manage the manufacturing functions to comply with quality policies and procedures.
Provide 100% on time shipment of products to Customers.
Train and guide all manufacturing resources in the necessary skills to achieve production of products to documented specifications, produced to the latest engineered costs with no lost time accidents.
Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results;
coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities
Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
Through advance planning, coordinate production, materials and equipment necessary to allow on time shipments.
Where a business downturn is forecasted, anticipate production levels and inventory required at the new business levels to achieve targeted key performance measurement efficiencies.
Communicate freely with all levels of the organization with special attention to direct reports and hourly organization.
Be committed to provide 24-hour response to all employee and customer questions.
Using the principles of 5S, champion the need for excellent maintenance of the plant facilities housekeeping, materials storage and placement;
Maintain Kanban inventories on a continuous basis.
Reevaluate levels periodically based upon changes in order patterns.
Responsible for managing the safety process and outcomes, in partnership with the Employee Health & Safety department, through regular training and communications.
Responsible for inventory accuracy by managing the accurate transaction recording of manufacturing production and scrap within the plant and at suppliers of outside operations.
Responsible for upgrading the manufacturing personnel resources through training, communication of performance targets and follow-up to determine actual performance.

Education and Experience Requirements :
5+ years experience as Production Supervisor or Manager role
Experience in the food / food related industry using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools
Previous experience in manufacturing, transaction reporting, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing Concepts.
Experience using ERP system(s)
Flexibility to work various shifts and / or split shift
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
Bachelor of Science Degree preferred.
