Provides direct patient care in accordance with Air Evac Lifeteam policies, protocols and/or online medical direction.Flight Paramedic Duties
Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility maintaining thorough patient care documentation
Provides advanced life support care and documentation on ambulance transports from sending facilities
Knowledgeable in the use and routine management of all equipment and supplies
Attends pre-mission briefings and mission debriefing, completing necessary documentation
Assists in pre-mission liftoff checklist and pilot assistance when needed, i.e. radio, navigational and visual observation activities
Conducts aircraft safety briefings as needed
Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, crewmembers, medical personnel, patient, bystanders and equipment prior to liftoff
Functions as a medical flight crew member

Completes and submits Flight Records
Completes Narcotic count and documents per policy
Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences
Maintains and submits documentation of required licensure, certifications, continuing education, safety, and advanced procedures
Participates regularly in departmental activities, projects, and committees
Participates in continuing education programs
Attends and participates in meetings according to established base guidelines
Acts as a preceptor and/or participates in orientation of new employees
Other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regularly reach with hands and arms
Frequently required to sit for long periods of time
Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
Frequently lift and/or move a minimum of 70 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Must be able to sit in an aircraft seat in an upright position, restrained by a four point system while wearing a helmet
Required to work frequently near moving mechanical parts
Required to work in outside weather conditions
Frequently exposed to blood-borne pathogens or airborne particles
Frequently exposed to vibrations/turbulence and loud noise levels requiring hearing protection/helmet
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
National registered EMT-P without individual disciplinary action, currently licensed in the states served by assigned base
Skills:
PHTLS or ITLS, NRP, BLS, ACLS, and PALS or PEPP completed prior to flight status and maintained for employment
FP-C and/or CCP-C within 24 months from date of hire (may vary due to specific State regulation)
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret health and flight-related journals, patient charts, and job specific legal documents
Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
Ability to perform mathematical functions for drug calculations and age specific medication management
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Experience:
Three years of service in an active pre-hospital ALS service
