Primary Location101 Parts MaintenanceOriginates and develops analysis methods to determine maintenance demands for components, machines, and processes. Acquires and analyzes downtime data. Prepares diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports to define downtime problems and make recommendations for reducing downtime. Conducts analysis of downtime problems and investigates to determine the personnel/equipment/training required for the particular situation, with consideration given to cost limitations for machine uptime/downtime, repair/replacement costs. Determines cost advantages of alternatives and develops action plans that comply with customer demands for reliable processes/machines to avoid failures. This position is a key link between maintenance and production providing input on reoccurring reliability issues and action restoring flow when machines are down. The Maintenance Reliability Engineer has a critical role in helping maintenance and production correct machine reliability issues by minimizing downtime and failure rates while maximizing machine productivity. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Works under broad administrative instructions; provides in-house consulting activities to advise and counsel maintenance associates on a variety of complicated processes/procedures, supported by detailed calculations and guided by cost-effective decisions and recommendations.

Establishes good maintenance practices and trains others to disseminate the concepts across the organization.

Provides daily technical support to maintenance technicians, maintenance leaders, and production technicians to resolve maintenance and operating issues for immediate and long term solutions.

Leads problem solving and root cause analysis efforts, providing documentation and record retention on technical related issues.

Designs and develops new and unique repair methods and procedures, special equipment, innovative test procedures and special analysis of failure techniques, and communicates these advanced concepts in detailed technical reports that are used in the supervision and training maintenance technicians.

Plans, conducts, and directs machine kaizen projects requiring application of engineering knowledge from multiple fields.

Assists with development and coaching of maintenance technicians.

Interface with other manufacturing departments to address and resolve technical issues

Identifies and captures opportunities for improvement in equipment maintainability and reliability.

Uses methodologies such as TPM and RCM to optimize work processes, adapt maintenance tools, systems, and procedures to improve equipment utilization and reliability, and minimize service quality incidents.

Keeps current with latest equipment, technologies, and maintenance methods.

Participates in technical audits and compliance assessments, and follows up on closure of corrective action plans

Follows company safety and health guidelines and other company policies.

Performs other work as assigned.

Respond to trouble calls on a 24/7 basis

Note: This position may require shift and weekend line/maintenance support

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related technical field

Minimum of 10 years of experience with mechanical and electrical systems and controls utilized in industrial applications focusing on the reliability improvements of equipment and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient in installing, programming, and troubleshooting AC and DC motors/drives, and Programmable Logic Controllers of different makes and models.

Proficient in troubleshooting all types of mechanical systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, drivetrains, etc.)

Experience in metal casting, melting furnaces and various instrumentation

Cold forging experience

Robotics experience

Gas fired combustion systems experience

Strong written and oral communications skills.

Ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Proficient problem solving and creative thinking skills.

Strong maintenance background

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Skills and Abilities:

Analyzes repair history and costs and makes recommendations for equipment repair or replacement.

Advises maintenance leadership and maintenance technicians on repair methods and procedures.

Manages smaller capital installation and repair projects.

Assists maintenance leadership in preparation of repair and capital budgets and annual shutdown plans.

Must be able to work well under pressure and within time constraints, multi-task, and build sound relationships with both internal and external customers.

Must exhibit excellent communication, analytical, organizational and computer skills.

Must be capable of independently making sound decisions through creative problem-solving.

Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
