  • Own overall PMO / portfolio governance processes including program intake process creation, portfolio governance, roadmap planning and execution for the assigned program(s).
  • Lead efforts to transition large scale/complex programs from charter through commercialization
  • Form and lead cross-functional new product development team in executing project objectives according to a written, approved performance agreement (Development review through to Market Launch)
  • Work with partner groups to gain alignment & support to achieve project objectives
  • Ensure projects are executed in compliance with regulatory requirements and Phase Review Discipline requirements
  • Transfer product & manufacturing processes from to operations & marketing organizations at the launch of the project
  • Capture & disseminate the knowledge acquired during projects to improve product development processes & systems
  • Participate as a senior leader to improve environment & business systems
  • Ensure that domestic & global market strategy, assumptions, business opportunities are measured & periodically reviewed throughout the duration of project execution & initial product launch
  • Lead cross-functional team in executing new product development performance agreement
  • Develop and monitor comprehensive project plans
  • Establish & assign team roles & responsibilities through detailed resource planning
  • Provide direct and regular communication to senior management on progress, opportunities & issues through weekly/monthly reports, agendas, meeting minutes, analyses, and presentations.
  • Manage resources from functional organizations, support groups & outside sources to ensure project success
  • Continuously re-evaluate project to determine validity of concept assumptions
  • Foster teamwork within team & between team & other groups managing personnel to meet business, quality, and safety requirements
  • Contribute to the Design History File (DHF). Ensures a quality focus and customer needs are met. This includes participating in design control discussions including requirements development, risk management, product design reviews, engineering cadaver labs, verification & validation planning, and design transfer planning
  • Must be committed to continuous improvement, leveraging data and technology to maintain and improve quality standards
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEMost importantly, you need to be a passionate Senior Program Manager - Medical Devices who enjoys his work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. The ideal Senior Program Manager - Medical Devices would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related discipline. MBA preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience managing many aspects of PMO and Governance in a global context, in a regulated environment is required
  • Experience in owning large/complex portfolio governance processes including process creation, portfolio governance calendar planning/management, and execution is required
  • Must be a strong team player who can work across organizations and teams to produce high-quality project management and governance outcomes
  • Analytical skills and experience leading risk-based oversight programs required
  • The ability to build interdependent partnerships, acting as the mediator between organizations while optimizing the value proposition is required
  • The ability to develop high performing teams and lead in a matrixed environment is required
  • Large transformation program management experience is required
  • The ability to shape, creating a future vision and gaining support and alignment to that vision is required
  • Must have executive presentation skills, a collaborative approach, the ability to connect, and the ability to manage complexity and ambiguity
  • Must seek to continuously learn and improve knowledge and skills by identifying developmental opportunities
  • Must have a bifocal approach - ability to zoom-in/zoom-out for strategic and tactical, high-level, and detailed
  • Up to approximately 15% domestic and international travel may be required
