Veterans & Military Family CenterJob DescriptionReporting to the Director of the Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center (Daniels Center), the Transition Manager will serve as one of two identical positions responsible to assist the approximate 1000 MTSU student-veterans and their eligible dependents as they transition into the university by managing the recruitment process performing tasks such as answering admission questions, verifying residency qualifications; participation in CUSTOMS, Preview Days, and the Newcomers Briefing; writing letters and emails to prospective students; tracking the number of students planning to attend; continually seeking to equate credit for veterans’ past experience, training, and course work; communicating with department chairs and academic advisors to find the most appropriate credits; helping identify academic majors that allow the most efficient degree pathway for the veterans based on previous Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) as requested. Monitoring the progression of each student-veteran and eligible dependent especially those who may be vulnerable based on their GPA, dropped classes, or by recommendation of faculty/staff; overseeing the sponsorship/mentoring program that links student-veterans with peers and faculty members. Working with and directing student-veterans and their eligible dependents to the Career Development Office at certain points in the academic career i.e. potential internships, creating a resume, job search, etc. and performing other related tasks and special projects as assigned.

This position is funded through a grant. Continued employment is contingent on additional funding.Required Educational Qualifications and Field of StudyBachelors degree required.Required Year(s) and Type of Work Experience Two (2) years full time progressively responsible related experience working with veterans in a university setting assisting with admissions process and academic success programs and/or military experience.

Note: Four (4) years of 20 hours per week part time related experience as defined above may be considered.Preferred Year(s) and Type of Work ExperiencePrior Military service preferred.Certificates/ Licenses PreferredSalary Range
