Traditional Project Management: Project-level financial and artifact management for train-level delivery work, replacement of Waterfall-standard artifacts with Agile replacements, and educating Waterfall and Agile project teams on this process is a core component of this traditional PM work.Coach: Leverage SAFe 5.0 expertise to drive measurable change within the transforming IT organization. Partner with the Lean Agile Center of Excellence (LACE) to develop and drive a backlog of SAFe transformation improvement items. Serve as a team lead for other RTEs to cascade improvements to all ARTs (5-6 in total)RTE: Leadership for an ART comprised of several portfolio-funded projects for an agile delivery team collaborating with Waterfall enterprise project managers. Requires knowledge of “both sides” to facilitate coaching and collaboration to maintain auditable yet lean project delivery. RESPONSIBILITIESManage and optimize the flow of value through the ART and Solution Train using various tools, such as the Program and Solution Kanbans and other information radiatorsEstablish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetingsFacilitate the PI planning eventSummarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparencyAssist tracking the execution of features and capabilitiesFacilitate periodic synchronization meetings, including the ART sync at the Essential Level and the value stream sync for Solution TrainsAssist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessaryCoach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsetsHelp manage risks and dependenciesEscalate and track impedimentsProvide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecksEncourage collaboration between teams and System and Solution Architects/EngineeringWork with Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignmentImprove the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevOps and Release on Demand in the Continuous Delivery PipelineFacilitate System DemosDrive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the ART and Solution Train and help them improveFoster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practicesQUALIFICATIONSSAFe Release Train Engineer certification requiredSAFe SPC strongly desiredAdditional SAFe certifications preferred; SP, SDP, PO/PM, SASM/SSM, SP, SAExperience guiding configuration and use of Rally, Jira, or similar Agile toolProject Financial Management experience requiredExperience working in a highly matrixed, transforming IT environment4+ years of experience with working in an application development environment as a large Program/Project Manager or Release Train Engineer.3+ years of experience working on complex, enterprise level platforms or solutionsExperience managing multi-million dollar programs/projectsExceptional oral and written communication skillsProven ability to partner with senior leaders and influence the decision making process, collaborate across the organization and operate effectively within a matrix environment by resolving conflict and influencing othersExperience managing virtual and globally distributed teamsExperience with Continuous Improvement methodologies, i.e., Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping desiredction for details.
