Description of Duties (primary & secondary) % of Total Work Effort:
- General Business Analyst duties - 25%
- Elicit requirements from stakeholders, analyse requirements and document in business requirements documents, and create functional specifications - 25%
- Interacts with the software development team and business end users - 25%
- Serve as test analyst - 25%
- The BA reviews federal and state law and policy, program policy and procedure, and any other pertinent documentation.
- Documents current and future state processes to facilitate validation of solution accuracy and completeness.
- Serve as the liaison between the Business and IT departments.
- Help to understand business problems and opportunities and recommends solutions that enable the business to achieve its goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with developers and stakeholders for requirements development, ensuring that stakeholders understand the design capabilities and/or limitations, engaging development staff in the transfer of functional requirements into system design.
- The BA identifies, defines, reviews, and documents functional and non-functional requirements.
- When appropriate creates a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) and the Requirements Definition Document.
- Documents alternate flows/scenarios in requirements documentation to support design of workflow or exception processing.
- Tests applications for adherence to system requirements and ensure critical business scenarios can be performed by the product.
- If QA Analysts are available, the BA reviews the test plan to ensure critical functionality is included.
- As development progresses, conduct product demos to ensure that customer expectations are being met.
- Facilitates User Acceptance Testing with a variety of user types to ensure critical processes are functioning as recorded in Requirements Documentation.
- Creates training material such as User Manuals and Quick Reference Guides.
- Facilitate review, resolution, and approval for final deliverables.
- Bachelors or equivalent practical experience
