We're searching for a dedicated and experienced veterinary technician to lead our oncology department, providing expert care to pets facing cancer diagnoses. This unique opportunity allows you to work collaboratively with a supportive team, utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostics and advanced treatment options to offer comprehensive care to our patients and their families. Place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.

Calculate basic medical math.

Set up appropriate materials for chemotherapy administration.

Safely dispense and administer oral chemotherapy agents.

Safely dispense, reconstitute and administer SC/IM chemotherapy agents.

Check chemotherapy agent calculations and dosages.

Place IV catheter for chemotherapy infusion.

Have the knowledge of chemotherapy extravasation and what to do if it happens.

Admit Oncology patients and obtain thorough history including current medications and dosages, response to treatment and side effects, intensity and duration.

Patient discharge and client education such as how to handle patient eliminations after chemotherapy, how to handle oral chemotherapy at home, chemotherapy and radiation side effects and oral medication administration.

Maintain solid grasp of common veterinary medical terms and abbreviations and is able to converse with other veterinary professionals in medical terms.

Have the knowledge of the tumor types.

Understand diagnostic work-up protocols (including oncology specific terminology for each tumor/cancer type per each hospital’s protocol.

Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.

Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.

Maintain hospital for day to day function and operation (stocking, cleaning, etc.).
