- As an Onsite Desktop Technician, Lead on our project, you'll have oversight of a team of system admins and provide direction on prioritization of the work and identify high risk critical problems and dedicate appropriate resources appropriately
- Provide technical expertise and escalation point for challenges that arise. Conduct routine system administration tasks and log data in system admin logs. You'll be able to combine your technical experience with communication skills as you turn metrics into information and communicate their meaning
- This is an opportunity to gain experience in maintaining, troubleshooting a wide variety of systems and networks, providing desktop and end user support to the VA
- This position is located onsite at Veterans' Administration Medical Centers with daytime hours and potential for weekend hours.
- Experience with providing technical expertise and oversight of a team
- Experience with performing quality control on completed tasks, submitting reports to senior leadership on project plans and responsibility in personnel oversight
- Experience with conducting routine system administration tasks and logging data in system admin logs
- Experience with maintaining troubleshooting a wide variety of systems and networks, including high volume or high availability systems
- Knowledge of debugging protocols and processes
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and issues identified by customers and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with project teams; security, database and network administrators, ISOs, operations support staff, stakeholders, including Department of Defense (DoD) operations, and other system administration support staff.
- Ability to unpack, move, or install IT equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, needs to frequently traverse around the site campus transporting equipment to various office buildings and frequently position self to maintain computers/pull cords under desks and in server closets.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
- HS diploma or GED and 13+ years of experience with systems administration or BS degree in CS, EE, or Engineering Technology and 5+ years of experience with systems administration
- Experience with the ServiceNow ticketing system a plus
- Experience with the VA
- Public Trust clearance
