We are seeking an independent paralegal contractor to provide paralegal support services. This is a part-time position 10 - 20 hours per week for 6 months and thereafter work on a PRN basis. As a paralegal, you will be responsible for conducting pre-claim investigation, legal research, and initial case assessments. In addition to that, you will be drafting pleadings, motions and appellate documents and filing them with the court. You will also be performing administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics etc). Some of the other duties include but not limited to:

DUTIES:

Prepares legal documents and correspondence under the direction of Company President and Legal Counsel.

Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.

Maintains accurate litigation database, files, and tracking system.

At the request of President and/or Legal Counsel, prepares and distributes legal hold notices, reminders and lifts. Also maintains a log/database of all legal hold matters.

Respond to subpoenas and discovery requests. Maintains and indexes responses to subpoenas and discovery requests.

Assists with receipt of notice of service of process and other pleadings and distributes to parties on a timely basis.

Processing, redlining, proofreading of legal documents and correspondence.

Screens, directs and/or responds to emails, telephone calls, faxes, mail and other inquiries.

Organizes, indexes, and maintains law libraries, documents, and case files.

Help with various special projects on an as-needed basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated working experience as a paralegal. Healthcare, Senior Care Industry or long term care experience preferred.

Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices etc.

Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail.

Paralegal associates degree or other relevant certification.

Exemplary computer skills that include knowledge of the Microsoft Office & Google Suite of products.
