Position Title: Safety Utility TechnicianReports to: Safety EngineerLocation: Shelbyville, TNHours: Monday thru Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, overtime as neededJob Summary:The Safety Utility Technician will conduct various safety/environmental related audits throughout 3 Shelbyville locations (POC, DC and SMC). They will also serve as a backup safety and forklift trainer for those locations.Job Duties: Conduct safety audits of the following: fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, fire suppression equipment, compressed gas, battery changing equipment, ladders, outside grounds, environmental compliance, chains and slings, fall protection, first aid and AED. Issue hot work permits Conduct forklift training if needed Conduct safety training in the areas of new hire and temporary orientation, fire extinguisher and other safety related topics as needed. Participate in incident investigations when they pertain to safety Will be an active member of the Safety Committee Conduct security audit of facility to ensure that all entrances and exits are properly secured Coordinate Safety Suggestion Program Assist with any/all Safety reporting requirements Active member of the Ergonomics Committee Help drive 6S standards and safe behaviors on the floorMinimum Qualifications: 5 years’ experience with plant production and forklift equipment Previous experience in Safety/OSHA regulations preferred Must be available and flexible to work different hours to cover all shifts Act as first responder in facility emergencies Respond to trouble calls Work with fellow associates to solve safety and maintenance issues Be professional in all communications with fellow associates and other departments, including radio communicationPreferred Qualifications: Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods during work hours Must be able to see with or without correction Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Teamwork Drive for resultsNewell Brands (NASDAQ: NWL) is a leading global consumer goods company with a strong portfolio of well-known brands, including Paper Mate, Sharpie, Dymo, EXPO, Parker, Elmers, Coleman, Marmot, Oster, Sunbeam, FoodSaver, Mr. Coffee, Graco, Baby Jogger, NUK, Calphalon, Rubbermaid, Contigo, First Alert and Yankee Candle.
