Position Purpose
To create and maintain a safe, fun, clean, well maintained and an approachable beach atmosphere with a professional and friendly attitude. Deliver a product that increases the guest experience level daily. Produce a casual and extremely enjoyable all-inclusive experience that exceeds guest's expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure the safety of all swimmers & guests using the beach resort facilities.
Ensure that the pool area is clean in am & pm (Clean chairs, tables etc.) You may be asked to perform pool duties that require getting wet.
Clean, straighten and maintain all beach chairs on a daily/weekly basis or as needed.
Keep the "Beach Hut" clean and organized. Keep any and all locks maintained and in good working order.
Make sure that the beach towels are stocked and returned to the laundry daily. Do not leave any towels outside overnight.
All footbaths are to be cleaned and filled with water.
Ensure that all beach toys i.e.: Kayaks, aqua cycles, paddle boards & windsurfers etc. function properly. Test toys on a regular basis to ensure they are fully functioning.
Maintain an accurate log of daily beach activities. (Remember all cash transactions except beach chairs are to be transacted from the retail store.)
Maintain a proper appearance with regard to the resort uniform policy. Staff shirts, name tags and approved shorts. Hats with logos must be approved prior to wearing.
Maintain accurate inventories of all supplies needed and turn in reports.
Clean and rake seaweed as needed including the weddings and tented event areas. Remove rocks from the water's edge to create an easier entry point for our guests. The entire beach is your responsibility.
Maintain the volleyball courts (when available). Set up and break down toss-across and Beach Jenga games.
Snorkel and remove sea urchins that have come too close to shore. Place on the back side of reef.
Check beach for non-guests and collect payment for beach chairs.
Place ashtrays as needed near smokers on beach. Empty as needed.
Turn in daily forms with beach chair money and keys to the front desk at the end of the shift.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
CPR, First Aid Certification
Excellent swimmer (will be tested)
Team player and professional
Two or more years' experience in the hotel and hospitality industry
Prior experience in Hotel Activities and/or operating watersport's equipment
Physical requirements
Must stay alert in all conditions. Occasional strenuous physical work requiring strength and endurance with exposure to environmental conditions. Requires occasional lifting of objects up to 80 pounds, combined with twisting, bending or working on uneven surfaces. Swimming test is required.
