Primary duties include:-Assisting communities with the development of professionally-based inventories-Resource assessments and/or management plans-Establishing and training of professional staff-Tree ordinance development and review-Support for local and regional advocacy/advisory organizations-Technical and educational assistance to governments and non-profits on tree planting, protection and care-Assisting local cooperators with volunteer recruitment and training-Promoting urban forestry on the local level through various presentations, media releases, demonstrations, exhibits and publications-Responding to requests for information from the general public.-Working with local leaders, municipal tree managers, non-profits and arborists to provide seminars, workshops and other educational and networking opportunities.-Working with rural communities, ranchers and landowners to promote West Texas windbreak and seedling programs.-Cultivating relationships with smaller growing communities, identifying emerging communities and assisting development of professional staff and advocacy groups.Occasional duties include:-Training and response activities associated with the Emergency Response mission of the agency. -Support for programs addressing specific regional tree pest and disease issues, such as oak wilt, Asian longhorn beetle, Emerald Ash Borer or any other invasive plant and insect pests.-Assisting Forest Inventory Analysis, Forest Health, Stewardship, FRP and other TFS programs as needed and required.All duties listed may be subject o the following conditions:-May require exposure to harsh environmental conditions such as wind, sun, rain and temperature extremes.-May require walking long distances, standing for extended periods, twisting, reaching, bending and kneeling.-May require lifting and carrying heavy objects.-May require driving motor vehicles on and off road for long distances.-May require infrequent travel in State vehicles with overnight stays.-May require extended communication with the general public and employees in person, by phone or electronically.-Other duties as assigned.Please complete the form found at this link: https://tfsweb.tamu.edu/uploadedFiles/TFSMain/FinanceandAdmin/StaffResources/Forms/Applicant%20Supplemental%20Information%20Form%20rev%2020191105.docx and upload it to this application when uploading other documents. ISA Certified Arborist credential or ability to earn within 6 months.Preferred: ISA Municipal Specialist. SAF Certified Forester.
