Job Summary

The VMO is responsible for providing business focused technology Sourcing & Procurement, Contracting & Supplier Management services to drive supply optimization, cost efficiencies, minimize risk, and ensure supplier performance. The team is comprised of the following groups: Vendor Onboarding & Setup, Sourcing & Procurement, Contract Administration & Compliance, and Category Management. We support all Compass North American sectors and touch many lines of business including HR, Accounting and Finance, Treasury, Technology, Risk & Legal, Strategic Projects, Procurement, and Sales.

The Contract Specialist will be responsible for two main functions: working with sponsors, legal, and suppliers to negotiate and execute contracts primarily for Tier 3 (Tactical) and Tier 4 (Emergent) Agreements as well as, managing or supporting key milestones/deliverables in existing agreements (i.e. renewals, wholesale template updates, license true-ups, pricing updates, and data privacy addendums, etc.). For new agreements, this person will leverage an established contract risk framework to gain approvals and signatures. The management of existing agreements will vary in scope and most likely require coordination and guidance from the Sourcing & Procurement and/or Category Management teams.

This postition is REMOTE but will require occasional travel to Charlotte, NC

Job Responsibilities

  • Contract Lifecycle management at an accelerated pace
  • Supplier contract review and redline based on established Compass and best-in-class standards
  • Work closely with Compass Technology Law Department to drive the contract negotiation process
  • Escalate contract exceptions for approvals to senior leadership
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Sourcing & Procurement and Category Management to retro-fit or upgrade existing contractual documents
  • Manage and prioritize portfolio of projects based on deadlines, business needs, level of visibility, etc.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure updated artifacts are on file. I.e. Certificate of Insurance, Disaster Recovery Tests, Cybersecurity certifications, SSAE18, SOC2, etc.
  • Assist in coordinating supplier Cybersecurity assessments.
  • Representing the team's value-add to the broader organization

This role will require a high degree of motivation, as well as strong relationship, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. Ideally, we're looking for someone that is not only willing to take on a robust amount of procurement and contracting work, but also interested in developing his/her Sourcing skillset to grow within the team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Exceptional business/commercial acumen
  • 5+ years of experience in direct or indirect sourcing/procurement or contract administration
  • Experience in technology categories and/or working with technology suppliers is a plus
  • BA/BS Degree in a business, technical, qualitative field or equivalent experience
  • Efficient project management skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and relationship-building skills
  • Success in negotiating both pricing and legal terms
  • Highly developed sense of ownership and responsibility
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Effective organization, planning, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Service oriented collaborative approach to customer and peer relationships
  • Evidence of an ability to work cross-functionally
  • Capable presentation experience
  • A self-starting, self-managing individual
