IT Support/Database Management/Developer Freeport, TX Long-term contract Our client has an exciting and a challenging opportunity for an IT Technologist. This role involves the creation and support of effective data storage, database queries, data reporting involving multiple database platforms, and our client's network management. The facilitation of electronic report generation will require interfacing with lab analysts and other IT groups. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop a working knowledge of Sample Manager® (SM) database from Thermo-Scientific.
  • Interface with information security for creation and management of SharePoint sites.
  • Familiarization with client Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) requirements and ensuring compliance.
  • Maintaining File Share Management system for the TEAL group.
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise and specifications for data submitters (contract laboratories). Develop client-specific electronic data deliverable (EDD) solutions.
  • Generating analytical reports according to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) protocol.
  • Supporting lab specific needs for migrating from Hardcopy to electronic data filing system.
  • Perform basic computer hardware troubleshooting and be knowledgeable of various hardware configurations.
  • Participate in productivity enhancement projects:
    • Laboratory automation
    • Automated field data collection
    • Automated data quality and reliability tools

Qualifications:
  • Some application development experience (e.g., Visual Studio (VB or C#), MS Query, VBA, SQL, Java, Python, Pearl, C, etc.).
  • One year of experience in a related IT role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/Excel/Access and various MS apps that integrates data systems.
  • Preferably database management or development knowledge with Oracle or SQL.
  • Familiarity with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) preferred.
  • Previous database management or development experience desired.
