Overview

The Sr Cognitive Developer/Engineer will develop a conversation service that combines machine learning, natural language understanding, and integrated dialog scripting tools to provide outstanding customer engagements across multiple channels. This includes but is not limited to monitoring interactions in the application to identify underperforming content and developing solutions that will improve and enhance the performance of the voice and messaging interactions. The Sr Cognitive Developer/Engineer will develop reporting that will be utilized to drive solutions that align with company goals and initiatives.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

  • Design, development and tuning of customer facing AI applications
  • Identify training data for voice and text-based applications
  • Train and test custom speech language and acoustic models
  • Control speech synthesis of text through Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) customizations
  • Create custom word pronunciations through the use of phonetic symbols
  • Collaborate with technical product team, product owners and stakeholders to deliver a product that meets business, cyber, compliance and privacy requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conform with all company policies and procedures

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of information technology systems
  • Knowledge of security methodologies, policies, standards and best practices
  • Advanced knowledge of conversational AI systems and Natural Language Understanding (NLU)
  • Advanced knowledge of testing methodology of cognitive solutions
  • Knowledge of building AI systems for SaaS applications
  • Knowledge of pre-trained language models
  • Knowledge of best practices in information technology governance and regulatory landscape for financial institutions
  • Significant experience in large and complex business environment

Skills

  • Advanced experience developing and deploying voice and text conversational flows for virtual agents or virtual assistants
  • Experience with developing dialog interpreters
  • Experience with conversational patterns, such as disambiguation, digressions, slot filling and question answering
  • Advanced level experience with Java, JSON, NLP, Python, R
  • Experience with Cognitive Intelligence technologies and frameworks/systems such as Node JS, Javascript
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams with product management, user experience and engineering teams
  • Ability to train, educate and mentor team members in area of AI Systems and NLU
  • Ability to challenge the status quo, be curious and dare to innovate
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and make sound, fact-based decisions

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or equivalent area of study required

Experience

  • 0-2 years IBM Watson or similar technologies required
  • 2-4 years Software Engineer with focus in NLP/NLU Software required
