Overview

The GAC Systems Engineer II is a level 2 platform engineer for our Global Automation & Content Services team. The Global Automation & Content Services team are the owners of several platforms, applications, and solutions for GM Financial. This includes but is not limited to LexisNexis ThreatMetrix, LexisNexis Bridger Insight XG, IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation, IBM Datacap, IBM FileNet Content Services, IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW), Red Hat OpenShift, Panviva, Kaltura, etc.

At a high level, this level 2 engineer position, under the direction of the Global Automation & Content Services Manager, and technical leads, is responsible for:

• Platform Architecture & Implementation

• Platform Administration

• Platform Monitoring

• Platform Documentation (Administration Guide, Best Practices, Governance, etc.)

• Platform Security

• Application/Solution Deployment

• Production Support

• Project Coordination, Analysis, Design, Estimation, Documentation (such as BRD, TRD, etc.), etc.

• Sustainability and improvement of processes, including task automation to improve process efficiency

• Audit and compliance remediation

• Balancing multiple projects with efficiency and accuracy

• Leadership escalation for production issues

Team members will have areas of strength and some level of specialization but must be adept at learning platforms and applications that enable the team member to participate in all areas of administration and support. This position involves direct coordination with other team members, departments, business partners, and outside vendors on administration, support, and project work. The GAC Systems Engineer II often functions as the IT Partner and/or BSA on projects in addition to acting as the platform engineer and solution implementer. The position may provide guidance to team members of all levels. This individual will also become familiar with all compliance, regulatory and security requirements adhering to all corporate policies and standards. This person needs to be experienced in technology with good planning and coordination skills. An energetic, solution minded personality with drive, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills will be needed for success in this position.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

  • Platform engineering, architecture, implementation, administration, monitoring, documentation, security, and support for all Global Automation & Content Services platforms
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the platform they are responsible for
  • Plan, organize, and direct/perform the implementation of enterprise solutions/platforms in accordance with strategic business plans and requirements
  • Become subject matter expert in more than one technology supported by Global Automation & Content Services
  • Interface with customers to provide issue resolution for platforms and solutions
  • Gather, analyze, and review customer requirements and recommend innovative solutions to appropriate management
  • Work closely with internal business units to facilitate project completion
  • Interface with software vendors and suppliers in support of business applications and platforms
  • Provide business rules interpretation for functional and technical specifications, system designs, and documentation for business solutions
  • Contributes to the development of RFPs/SOWs and participates in the vendor selection process
  • Identifies and directs changes through appropriate review and approval mechanisms
  • Promote a cooperative and productive team environment
  • Ensure our platforms and solutions are following modern standards and best practices and look for opportunities to implement new technologies
  • Provide direction and mentoring to team members of all levels
  • Maintain technical and functional awareness and competence
  • Linux and Windows operating system and applications support
  • Troubleshooting at the OS, application, and web services tiers
  • Provide Quality Assurance Testing for production implementation
  • Ensure that all work and changes are performed in such a way as to minimize disruptions to the customer and other stakeholders
  • Must be able to work with limited to moderate direct supervision
  • Escalate complex or consequential issues to leadership
  • Ability to occasionally perform code deployments late at night and on weekends
  • Code deployment documentation remediation; working with application developers to tweak and refine deployment process as needed prior to execution
  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously, engaging with project management office as needed
  • Capacity to collaboratively architect / re-architect services or solutions in order to improve processes and maximize efficiency
  • Participate in company provided training, attend independent training, and perform research as appropriate
  • Install system patches and application updates as directed in accordance with company policy
  • Participate in an on-call support rotation in collaboration with the offshore team, for providing after-hours support as needed
  • Work ticketing system incident, request, and change management queue as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and networking technologies
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, PaaS, SaaS, and other cloud technologies
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting network traffic and communication problems utilizing packet sniffers, Fiddler, log parsers, or other utilities relative to problem diagnosis and remediation
  • Knowledge of supporting applications hosted on RedHat OpenShift, Kubernetes containers, or similar technologies may be required
  • Knowledge of IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation, FileNet, Datacap or related ECM/Content Services technologies may be required
  • Knowledge of SQL, regular expression, JavaScript Object Notation or relevant technology languages
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry trends/new technologies with an ability to apply this to day-to-day work activities
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting utilizing packet sniffers, Fiddler, log parsers, and other utilities relative to problem diagnosis and remediation
  • Knowledge of enterprise platforms and operating systems as well as knowledge of key business functions and processes
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and with users at all levels

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work or military experience required

Experience

  • 3-5 years experience in an Information Technology environment and respective business area required
  • 3-5 years supporting IBM FileNet, Datacap, or other relevant technologies required

Licenses

  • Certification(s) in IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation, FileNet, Datacap, or other relevant technologies preferred

Working Conditions
