Job Description

To be considered for the position, interested candidates MUST meet all required qualifications, meet one of the required combinations of education and experience, as well as be willing to fulfill all job responsibilities as outlined below.

Required Education and Experience

MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING combinations of education and experience:

-a bachelor's degree with 12 college credit hours in child development and 6 college credit hours in business management AND at least 1 year of experience in a licensed child care center

-an associates of applied science degree in child development or a closely related field with 6 college credit hours in child development and 6 college credit hours in business management AND at least 2 years of experience in a licensed child care center

-60 college credit hours with 9 college credit hours in child development and 6 college credit hours in business management AND at least 2 yeas of experience in a licensed child care center

-a child care administrators certificate from a community college with at least 15 college credit hours in child development and 3 college credit hours in business management AND at least 2 yeas of experience in a licensed child care center

-a child development associate credential or certified child care professional credential with 6 college credit hours in business management AND at least 2 years of experience in a licensed child care center

-a day care administrators credential issued by a profesional organization or education institution approved by licensing AND at least 2 years of experience in a licensed child care center

-9 college credit hours in child development and 9 college credit hours in business management AND at least 3 years of experience in a licensed child care center

Additional Required Qualifications

-English and Spanish bilingual in reading, writing, and speaking

-Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center in a leadership position

-at least 21 years of age

-have a high school diploma or its equivalent

-be legally authorized to work in the United States

-have, or be willing to complete, a fingerprint record with DFPS

be willing to complete a state and federal background check

education and experience as outlined above

Preferred Qualifications

-Previous supervisory experience in field of education

-Knowledge of second language acquisition

-Experience as a licensed child care center director or assistant director

-Experience in customer service (may be through child care center work)

Job Responsibilities

-Leading and motivating staff

-Ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for all staff and students

-Intimate knowledge of and ensuring all child care licensing standards are met or exceeded in the daily operation of the center

-Assisting staff with the weekly development and execution of developmentally appropriate instruction and program activities aligned with TEKS and learning guidelines

-Maintaining and managing student and staff records

-Maintaining parent satisfaction and enrollment retention

-Maintaining staff satisfaction and retention

-Maintaining positive, approved, and regular communication with parents and staff

-Monitoring and managing the monthly and annual financials

-Conducting tours for prospective parents and enrolling new families

-Assisting in the accreditation process for the center

-Evaluating employees

-Monitoring and maintaining ratios

-General office work and management

-Purchasing of materials and supplies

-Developing behavior interventions

-Attending required monthly after-hours trainings

-Attending required after-hours events: monthly company meetings (1.5 hours once a month)

-Overseeing and assisting in conducting monthly drills

-Planning and facilitating monthly staff meetings

-Being a positive role model to children, staff, and families
