Application Performance Engineer; strong Java required.

Wallet & Payments Commerce Engineering team is looking for an outstanding Performance Engineer to join our team and help improve application and system performance to achieve desired scale. This is a highly technical hands-on role which requires in-depth technical understanding of software, hardware, networking, and the Internet taking holistic view of complex systems. We are looking for a candidate who is self-driven, independently troubleshoot technical issues, and work with teams of developers and test engineers who take pride in building server solutions.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of strong object-oriented programming and design experience, including Java

  • 2+ years working with relational database systems and expert SQL scripting skills; experience with NoSQL solutions is a plus

  • 2+ years working in an Agile software development environment.

  • Solid experience with Virtualization and containerization technologies, CPU

    Architecture.

  • 3+ years of experience in performance testing, profiling, and monitoring tools

    such as JMeter, Yourkit, Dynatrace, Splunk.

  • Professional experience in at least one shell and high level scripting language

    (bash, perl, python).

  • Understanding of packet sniffer tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.

  • Professional experience with Maven, SVN and GIT.

    Responsibilities

  • Code reviews, debugging, and programming in Java

  • Identify and setup performance test strategy for large-scale systems.

  • Design, develop, and execute load, longevity, and capacity planning tests

    preferably using open-source tools. Design benchmark workloads that map to

    production load patterns.

  • Develop/enhance test frameworks and build virtual systems to isolate

    dependencies

  • Analyze performance results and metrics to identify bottlenecks and

    opportunities for optimizations

  • Communicate status and risks to cross functional teams; offer mitigation

    strategies.
