You will assist our clients with the establishment of cloud-hosted products, infrastructure/environments, and policies. You will be the subject-matter expert to government leaders in establishing a world-class industry-competitive cloud infrastructure for uses ranging from DevOps to Model-Based engineering.We are looking for a curious, creative individual with a technical foundation who is naturally fascinated by the challenges and detailed work in enabling industrial automation and has the technical capacity to systematically express their problem-solving ideas in contributing to our mission to build Brilliant Machines. We would be thrilled to find a team member with prior Navy or Department of Defense (DoD) experience and the ability to translate technical expertise into a common language.The Cloud Engineer will:

  • Translate project-specific needs into a cloud structure that will suit those needs and consider those needs in terms of resource usage and scalability
  • Design the cloud environment from a holistic point of view, ensuring it meets all of the client requirements
  • Carry out the deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and management tasks within this implemented cloud structure
  • Oversee cloud security for the organization
  • Complete the integration of new applications into the cloud environment
  • Educate teams on implementation of new cloud technology and initiatives
  • Be accustomed to everyday use of UNIX Terminal, Windows PowerShell, and other common CLI tools
  • Ensure efficient, cost-effective, and secure use of the AWS Cloud in accordance with industry best practices
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues
  • The best candidates will have one or more of the following qualities:
  • Prior U.S. Navy or D.o.D experience
  • Active security clearance
  • Technical writing skill
  • CI/CD experience
  • Monitoring and logging experience with Prometheus or Grafana
  • Experience in the creation, use, and orchestration of Docker containers
  • Configuration Management with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or Puppet (we use Terraform, primarily)
  • Database engineering experience (RDS, Redshift, or DynamoDB)
  • Agile development experience
  • Asymmetric/symmetric encryption experience (AWS KMS, FIPS-140, x.509 , TLS)
  • The Elite Cloud Engineer requires:
  • Programming expertise Mastery of one or more statically-typed programming languages (Golang, Rust, C, or C preferred) with the ability to address advanced programming concepts. At least 2 years of Golang experience is highly desirable .
  • Cloud and Container Clarity Experience using services from Cloud Providers such as Amazon Web Servies, Googe Cloud Platform, or Azure, coupled with experience using containerization software like Docker and Kubernetes to run code in production
  • Clear and effective communication Written and oral communication skills sufficient to explain technical material to other team members and customers.
  • Quick learning and problem-solving The ability and desire to learn new technologies swiftly and enact decisive solutions in development.
  • Team-first mentality The ability and desire to work in a team environment, under ideal and non-ideal conditions.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. / B.A. from an accredited four-year university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electric Engineering with a CS focus
  • 5 years experience in a professional business environment with leadership experience
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional Certification (on-the-job training provided)
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator preferred (on-the-job training provided)
