Our client in the greater Austin area is seeking a Director of Software Engineering in a remote friendly work environment. As a Director, you will drive the engineering execution of product delivery. You will work closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, Architects, and Agile Practitioners to capture, refine and continuously deliver value to the customers we serve. location: Austin, Texasjob type: Permanentsalary: $180,000 - 210,000 per yearwork hours: 8am to 4pmeducation: Bachelors responsibilities:- Work as part of a dynamic team throughout our rapidly maturing SDLC
- Oversee the delivery of SaaS product features that meet MVP acceptance criteria
- Working as a member of an Agile Release Train
- Drive estimation of the level of effort for new products, product features, and enhancements
- Collaborate with Designers and PMs to drive value into our targeted markets
- Work with senior leadership to accomplish specific software goals
- Assist in planning and selecting workstreams to improve the product and customer experience
- Share best practices and improve processes within and across product delivery teams
- Assist in designing and architecting software solutions
- Assist in architecting Cloud solutions and defining best practices
- Recommending and integrating new technologies where appropriate
- Coordination of development efforts between teams and product value streams
- In your role as an Engineering people manager; Managing one or more teams of software engineers
- Interviewing, hiring and onboarding new teams to execute on new portfolio investments
- Ensure adherence to continuous improvement practices as required to meet quality and time to market imperatives
- Guiding and mentoring your teams through design and code reviews to establish and ensure compliance with standards
- Reviewing code of junior team members and peers for best practices and good software principles
- Managing team output and workstreams, through consistent reporting, metric tracking and KPIs
- Oversee and manage relevant compliance and security concerns
- Training new developers, and mentoring more junior developers
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent military experience
- 13+ years of experience in Application Development, including 10 developing web applications and delivering SaaS
- Delivering scalable software to a cloud environment, GCP, Azure, AWS, K8s, Docker
- Deep experience with .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Webforms, C#, MS SQL
- Familiarity with React, RESTful and GraphQL Apis, IIS
- Experience with Distributed systems
- Experience with both Microservices architecture and Monolithic architecture
- Experience with specific technologies and patterns in use
- Leading development teams and managing teams within an agile environment
- Working in an Agile organization using Scrum, XP, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), or other scaling models
- In-dpeth technical aptitude and experience leading teams in delivering quality software
- Advanced degree in industry-related subject
- Prior experience managing multiple teams and also managing managers
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement of development practices and processes
- Experience managing both local and remote teams
- Delivering 12-factor applications to GCP
- Deep experience in K8s, GitHub Actions, Datadog
- Prior experience with Release Train membership and managing multiple engineering teams using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Experience level: Experienced
- Minimum 10 years of experience
