Job Number: 886 Riverside Research is seeking a Hypersonic Aerodynamics Program Manager to provide technical expertise and programmatic support relevant to defense aerospace applications. Subject matter expertise in hypersonic aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics is required. The position will collaborate with teams of programmers, scientists, and engineers.

Location: Location is flexible, but ideally Bay area, Boston, Austin, Chicago, Florida.

Duties:
  • Support development and implementation of prototype projects that evaluate the military utility of commercial solutions using rockets or kinetic glide vehicles traveling at hypersonic velocities on suppressed trajectories for test, evaluation, or other defense applications.
  • Provide expertise in hypersonic aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics, structures, and materials, to include solving relevant technical and programmatic problems and assessing the technical feasibility of commercial solutions.
  • Work closely with DoD partners and commercial teams throughout the prototype development lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with senior government officials, executive leadership, and other high-ranking stakeholders.
  • Perform independent reviews and detailed technical assessments of hypersonic vehicles, flight regimes and applications.
  • Provide reviews and assessments, and systems analyses of applicable technologies and operational concepts, system requirements, technical and performance analyses, test plans, executions, results, and related engineering documentation.
  • Review prototype proposals, reports, and related project documents.
  • Participate in milestone reviews, ground testing, flight tests, and simulations.
  • Participate in post-test analysis activities and review and analysis of test data.
  • Prepare white papers, technical reports, briefs, and meeting materials.
  • Respond to official requests for information and other tasks from DoD partners and stakeholders.
  • Participate in key intra- and inter-agency meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience with at least 3 years of experience in subject matter expert or engineering role.
  • Experience working on DoD or NASA hypersonic projects.
  • Ability to perform or coordinate computer simulations and analyses involving inviscid hypersonic flow, viscous hypersonic flow, and high-temperature gas dynamics.
  • Experience with systems flying or simulating flight in transonic and hypersonic flight regimes.
  • Demonstrated record of technical achievement in the development of hypersonic systems for air or space applications, including hands-on design, build, or test experience.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment, interact with DoD partners' and commercial contractors' senior-level management.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, interpersonal and client-handling skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in physics, aerospace or mechanical engineering, mathematics, or related technical/scientific field.
  • Perform independent reviews and detailed technical assessments of hypersonic vehicles, flight regimes and applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
  • US citizen

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of rockets, ramjet, and scramjet technologies.
  • Master's degree in physics, aerospace or mechanical engineering, mathematics, or related technical/scientific field.
  • Active Secret clearance with Top Secret/SCI eligibility
