Job Description

The Shopify Emerging Talent TA team is undergoing a transformative process that will take us to the next level. You’ll need to be a creative leader who has demonstrated the ability to attract and develop emerging talent in the very competitive internship space. The foundation of our program is world class but we have big goals to expand our impact and scale.

If the thought of partnering with all levels of employees from interns to Executives across every business group at Shopify excites you, this role is for you. If you thrive on being a connector - understanding someone’s career dream and bridging to where it exists within Shopify, this role is for you. And if you love the idea of balancing really fun work (think community building) and super meaningful work, then this team is your match.

Qualifications

In this role you will:

  • Develop and maintain strong business partnerships with hiring managers.

  • Identify, engage, and select the best candidates for Shopify's highest priority needs.

  • Facilitate a world class candidate experience.

  • Develop positive relationships with faculty, staff, and student organizations to build a customized approach to recruiting

  • Build or revise current G&A intern talent acquisition strategies

  • Build a program for G&A interns and new grads that fosters community

  • Conduct video and phone interviews.

  • Write job postings.

  • Use research to build diverse candidate pipelines.

  • Develop and conduct training for hiring managers on bias, interviewing, hiring process, use of our applicant tracking system and other tools.

  • Conduct application screening and vetting calls.

  • Recommend and manage short-list interviews, recap discussions, and offer processes.

  • See the people you’ve hired have a positive impact in their new role.

You will need to have:

  • Experience in high-volume recruiting in the campus space.

  • Genuine curiosity about people and their careers. You seek to understand people’s stories and you have a desire to listen more than talk.

  • Experience building high-trust relationships. Trust is of paramount importance at Shopify. Read about the “trust battery” here.

  • High attention to detail both with people and process. You’re able to pick up on nuance, ask excellent questions and plan accordingly.

  • A highly organized approach. You are able to capture, maintain, organize and juggle priorities in an often chaotic environment.

  • A builder’s mindset and a track record of owning problems and caring about how they get solved.

  • Comfort with a high degree of autonomy.

  • A high level of care for people.

Bonus experience:

  • Experience working in a high growth organization.

  • Experience building a program from the ground up

  • Experience as an entrepreneur and/or an interest in democratizing commerce.
