Title: Software Development Manager

Location: Remote within US

Your role:
  • Work with the team on solution designs, managing the development release efforts and addressing any skill gaps in their teams and capacity for a smooth-running team
  • Complete story point exercises with the team to provide estimates to Product Owner/Managers for planning
  • Actively review the level of effort of tasks, and assigns appropriate resource allocation within the release timeframe
  • Organize and oversees development shifts and tasks
  • Review change requests for impact to current work effort and provides an impact summary to the Project Manager & Product Owner
  • Oversee cyclical refreshes
  • Help remove roadblocks and keep everything on track
  • Establish code standards to be followed
  • Complete code reviews and ensures they meet established standards
  • Review deployment package (chainset, OBE, release branch) and provides to Product Owner for approval and updates as necessary
  • Review and approve deployment and rollback plans
  • Conduct staff meetings as needed to follow-up on critical issues or technical meeting outcomes and action items, in addition to root cause analysis
  • Ensure work management systems are updated timely and accurately by staff
  • Ensure department methodologies, frameworks, standards, procedures, processes, and deliverable templates are leveraged and followed
  • Ensure approved team standards, procedures, processes, and templates are reviewed and validated or updated annually
  • Recommend improvements to established methodologies, framework, standards, processes, procedures, or deliverables to the Product Owner
  • Review and validates staff augmentation invoices for accuracy
  • Address gaps in skills and capacity for a smooth-running team and coaching and mentoring

What you've got:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Software Development, or other technical / science field preferred
  • 8+ years' experience in object-oriented technologies
  • Internal Tools Management is hugely preferred (including but not limited to Unity)
  • Prior management/lead experience preferred, but if you've been an individual contributor for years and are ready to manage that works too
  • Knowledge of Agile Scrum methodology
  • Ideally looking for some leadership knowledge as there is a lot of room for growth in this group
  • A personable and non-abrasive leadership style is required
