We are looking for an experienced veterinary technician in our internal medicine department at our South Austin location.

As a veterinary technician in our internal medicine department, you will apply your skills and experience to provide high-quality care to each patient. Under the supervisors of a veterinarian and our amazing team, you will be given an opportunity to advance your knowledge and career.

Responsibilities:

-Walking, cleaning, feeding hospitalized patients.

-Basic inventory and stocking duties as required.

-Kennel duties as required.

-Restrain animals for examinations, procedures, and treatments.

-Administering medical treatments (oral medications, SQ and IV injections, enemas) as ordered by the doctor.

-Computer entry skills (invoicing, prescriptions, MRE’s).

-Client communication and education (admits/discharges, client demonstrations, phone communication, messages, client callbacks).

-Perform routine laboratory procedures.

-Prepare lab samples for submissions to outside labs.

-Routine radiography.

-Placement of IV catheters.

-Perform venipuncture.

-Set up and prepare for chemotherapy treatments.

-Administer chemotherapy at the direction of the doctor.

-Set up and prepare for endoscopic procedures.

-Prepare patients for anesthesia by placing IV catheter, inducing anesthesia, intubation, and hooking up to monitoring devices.

-Monitor anesthesia and patients recovering from anesthesia by checking vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, BP, ECG and SPO2

-Prepare prescriptions as ordered by the doctor: Appropriate container, labeling, directions, warning.

-Maintain cleanliness and order in work areas.

Requirements:

-some Saturday shifts may be required

-Overtime may be necessary
