Our client, located in Austin, TX, is currently in need of a NetApp Storage Architect for a 12 month contract. The position is likely to renew on a yearly basis. The consultant will work as a senior member on the team responsible for architecting and managing storage solutions being deployed at the client. Responsibilities:

  • Perform design level work with the customer’s architecture team using NetApp technologies and solutions into a customer’s storage infrastructure following NetApp and ITIL best practices that are aligned to the customer’s business requirements.
  • Participate as a team member of our customer’s IT engineering and architecture teams to ensure the continuity of solutions within the client data center.
  • Being a trusted advisor to the customer and account team
  • Being an advocate of the customer’s infrastructure needs to the account team
  • Set architectural and design standards for our storage and operational solutions tailored to meet the customer’s needs
  • The design of NetApp solutions into the customers IT Service Management (ITSM) data center services
  • Enhancements and extensions of a customer’s IT Service Management (ITSM) framework to cover new and existing NetApp solutions.
  • Project planning for tasks of moderate to high complexity
  • Technical mentoring and guidance to other technical team members.
  • Design level optimization of the customers storage infrastructure
  • Ensure our designs are viable and NetApp remains the platform of choice for the customer
A Storage Architect must be highly proficient in the following areas:
  • Large-scale infrastructure design of strongly-typed architectures
  • IT and business process transformation in the context of IT service management (ITSM)
  • Operating Systems: Unix and Windows systems administration functions including domain structures, file systems, disk partitions, mounts, quotas, and general security.
  • Networking: Local area network technology, specifically Ethernet, IP, DNS and NIS associated daemons, FC switches and directors, network architectures including hubs, repeaters, bridges, routers, and switches.
  • Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery – as it relates to applying and utilizing NetApp technologies and products within the customer environment
  • Storage: SAN and NAS storage, data replication, storage efficiency and manageability software
  • IT application environment: full spectrum of the technical environment: infrastructure, backups and business applications (Oracle, SAP, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint, MS SQL, etc).
  • ITIL Service Management and NetApp Storage Management Best Practices.
Required Skills:
  • Experience architecting large environments
    • These individuals will also possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills and have extensive architecture experience in defining storage strategies and leading complex storage solution projects.
  • Enterprise EDA experience
  • Strong and current Data OnTap (CDOT)
  • Prior Storage Admin experience, working and managing large environments of NetApp clusters
  • Experience with global storage deployments
  • Experience working with cascading Q-trees
  • Experience with OCUM and other storage management tools
  • Strong communications skills
