Job Number: 653 Riverside Research Institute (RRI) is seeking commercial technology experts with experience in business development, data analytics, strategic planning, and venture commercial tech sectors to include, but not limited to energy and clean tech, artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, robotics, cybersecurity, telecommunications, space-based operations and logistics, healthtech and biomedicine, and broad data analytics, processing, visualization, and automation solutions.

All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. Citizenship. This position should attract people with primarily commercial experience including knowledge of existing/emerging technology AND key players in the various sectors:
  • Autonomous systems (e.g. drones, robots, 3D printing/mapping, logistics)
  • AI/ML (edge computing, AI, ML, computer vision, AR/VR, quantum computing
  • Space/counterspace (small satellites, broad C4ISR, hypersonics)
  • Human Systems (biomedical, CBRNE physiology, human performance, broad healthtech issues)
  • Energy (cleantech, renewables, alternative fuels and related supply chain, electric vehicles, grid/infrastructure, broad energy resiliency issues)
  • Cyber (5G, anomaly detection and incident response, mostly active defensive methods)

Location: Location is flexible, but ideally Bay area, Boston, Austin, Chicago, or other innovation hub.

Duties:
  • Apply subject matter knowledge of key industry and technology focus pillars to advise DIU on innovative solutions and candidates for its CSO process
  • Integrate into and support ongoing business development, marketing, and strategy development activities
  • Identify and evaluate commercial partners in coordination with other executives and portfolio program managers
  • Cultivate commercial partners for upcoming and ongoing solicitations and manage relationships
  • Collect and analyze external market data to provide benchmarks for comparison purposes
  • Present reports to management for use in decision making and strategic planning
  • Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • 10 years of private sector experience in business development, marketing, sales, investment and go-to market strategies
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product, project, program management in private tech industry
  • Demonstrated Program Management experience.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or business field
  • Certification(s) in relevant technical and/or management-related fields
  • Experience and proven ability to to analyze industry landscapes and identify and evaluate commercial solutions and offerings
  • Demonstrated understanding of startup company culture and operations
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and interact with DoD/USG partners, commercial developers, venture capital and commercial executives, and other senior-level management
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and interpersonal and client-handling skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
  • US citizen
